I had this problem, and found my RSA_USER account's password had expired. The SSO service started, but couldn't properly service the VC/Inventory service.
Re: VCenter Can't start after My Host restart
Re: Update Manager Alarm actions
Hi,
I'm digging around trying to see if there are any configurable alarms or triggers, like performing an automated VUM scan when new patches are released or automating some of the VUM management using PowerCLI. I can't find any configurable alarms but after reading the item I previously quoted, failed to find any place where this exists in vCenter, hence the question. I'm not sure what triggers I would like to use, but as the feature doesn't appear to exist, the question is moot anyay! I'm still puzzled why the documentation refers to this feature though!
Cheers
Mike

Re: VSA Cluster/ESXi hosts and VCenter Server IP addresses change
I have just completed some IP changes, and used the "Reconfigure network" which worked quite well and used it a number of times, as I just changed a couple of IPs at a time. It might be a step in the right direction. try changing the vlans in their first.
What is your performance like for the VSA, mine seems very slow, I have 8 sas disks in each of 2 servers.
Re: Default runtime lease
Hi Eric,
I had tried running this PHP script, I am getting a blank page, no errors , nothing comes on screen.
I am trying running PHP script from MAC OS X 10.8.
I think the connection is not established, though i was able to run the query directly on SQL server it was running perfectly.

Re: HA Cluster Shutdown Issue
From a networking perspective are you network ports configured to "spanning-tree portfast" or "spanning-tree portfast trunk" ?
If not, then that is causing the issue. This happens because the mac-address of the Management Network flips between ports and the network things there is a loop. It goes through the STP exercise and traffic is blocked for ~30-50 seconds, HA triggers because of that.
Re: How to open plugin as a Popup through actions?
Use mx.core.FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication for the top level object.
For the current object view it's only easy to get a hold of it if your plugin owns it, i.e. when the view's mediator "set view" method gets called.

Re: Expand An Array Online
Not exactly. This is the usual way to expand an array:
- Stop Server
- Boot using ACU
- Expand Array
- Boot ESXi again
- Expand Volume in ESXi
I'm looking for some tool or some way that you can expand an array but without stop the server. Is there any way?
Thank you.
Re: "The file specified is not a virtual disk" error after machine Kernel Panic'd.
Looks like the snapshots have branches. Can you send the screen shot of the Snapshot Manager ?

Re: "The file specified is not a virtual disk" error after machine Kernel Panic'd.
Here you go.
When I try and revert to previous snapshot, it errors on me.

sigar_proc_cred_name_get() uses getpwuid_r() underneath on Linux systems, where according the getpwuid_r() manpage:
"The maximum size needed for buf can be found using sysconf(3) with the argument SCGETPW_R_SIZE_MAX."
This seems to not be the case when looking up an entry outside of the local /etc/passwd (ldap for example).
The error surfaces in the Java bindings with the following exception:
Caused by: org.hyperic.sigar.SigarException: Numerical result out of range

Re: VMware View with Teradici hardware
Hi NedinA,
Can you please open a ticket on the Teradici support site (its free - you can register at Techsupport.teradici.com). We can work through the details and post the results on this forum.
Mittim12 - thanks for your input. Yes the View Agent must be loaded on the physical PC/Workstation that has a host card installed. Sounds like a GP for disabling SSO is a good suggestion. I'd like my team to work through the details to make sure that works and if there are other configuration/recommendations to consider.
Thanks,
Stu
HP NC380T Not found? update
Hi,
I recently decided that my home server was using to much power so I am making a low power one.
The components are:
Sapphire pure white fusion E350
8GB Kingston value RAM
3TB seagate
1TB WD
and a new HP NC380T
I fitted all of the components in 1U case with a 260W power supply.
Then I disabled the onboard NIC because it's a marvell one that's not supported and added the HP NC380T to the first and only PCI-e slot.
But when I tried installing VMware ESXI 5.1 it cannot find any connected NIC's?
So now I have no clue what I can do. I thought that adding a supported network card would help but apparently it doesn't.
I hope you guys can help me.
EDIT:
some more information: I'm installing from a USB to a USB stick and I'm using the standard ESXI 5.1 image but still I am getting the 'No Network Adapters' message...
Update:
Tried the NC380T in my destop and guess what it Can't find the card either... so I'm guessing the card might be flawed so I'm contacting the seller.
Update 2:
checked the led's, on Lan port 2 the link speed indicates that the speed it is at is 1Gbps even when there is not a cable plugged in!
Lan port 1 seems to work as it should but I also can't fin it with VMware.
Does anyone know what can cause this to happen?
Kind regards,
Kevin
any chance to make guest tray icons show up in the host's tray?
Hello,
is there any chance to make guest system tray icons show up in the host's tray or taskbar when using Unity mode?
My host is an openSuSE 12.3 x86_64 system with kernel 3.10, my guest is running Windows 7 64bit.
VMware Player has version 5, VMware Workstation has version 9.
I have at least one application, that *always* minimizes to the Windows system tray.
To access it after minimizing, I always have to leave Unity mode, doubleclick the icon in the tray and enter Unity mode again.
Thx and bye.
Michael.
